Welcome to the home page of We’reaway.
Our names are Peter & Dawn Van Duren and we've set up this website for people who’d like to see some more of this fascinating country of ours called Australia, but may not be able to get out & about to do it as yet themselves.
You’ll be able to view pictures of what we’ve seen and travel to some of the most remote parts of outback Australia during this adventure. We’ll make special mention of great places to visit and places to stay and hopefully encourage you to spend some time in your own backyard before you venture overseas.
To give you a little background, we sold our Real Estate agencies on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria during 2007 in order to do what a lot of other Aussies in our age group are doing, and that is to travel.
This is not the first time we’ve ventured out into this great land. In 1989, we sold our property, packed the bags and set off to explore the East coast of Australia with two of our children. When we’d completed this trip 9 months later, we made a promise to ourselves that when the time was right and circumstances allowed us to, we’d do it again. This time however, as the kids are all grown up and living their own lives, we’re on our own and will start by travelling across the Nullarbor toward the west and then north toward Darwin and then back home again to set up for our next adventure. We also plan to travel overseas at some point and we'll document our travels from over there as well, so keep on checking this site to see where we've been. By the way, we’d love to receive your comments about our website and even an email on where you’ve been and what you’ve seen. To do this, just click on the ‘Contact Us’ button above. Or if you'd like to become a member and join up, simply click on the 'Sign Up' botton, fill in the details and follow the prompts, it's that easy AND IT'S FREE!!! Then you'll be able to add your own adventures and pictures to the site and tell your friends where you've been and what you've seen.
See you on the track.
